New Poll Out. American Public To Bush: Executive Priv. My @ss

Fri Jul 13, 2007 at 11:51:23 PM PDT

Time and time again in congressional hearings we hear the Republican's question the nature of the investigation, and then  proclaim that its all a waste of time and resources and the taxpayers are suffering from investigation fatigues, etcetc. This Rasmussen Poll goes to show otherwise and is surely not good news for the administration, especially in light of today's claims of privilege in the investigation of Pat Tillman's death.

While there's plenty of partisan skepticism to go around on the latest challenge between Congress and the White House on subpoenas and Executive Privilege, Americans are more skeptical of the White House position than Congress. In fact, a modest plurality believes that Congress has not done enough investigating of the White House since the Democrats took control in January.

Let me repeat that. HAS NOT DONE ENOUGH.

Are you listening congress? Bush? NSA? Ok, well one out of 3 ain't half bad right? Now that I've impressed you with my way with numbers, lets look at some more:

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 43% of Americans believe Congress is legitimately trying to find information about the firing of U.S. attorneys. Thirty-two percent (32%) believe the legislators are just trying to harass the Administration.

And here are the most important numbers of the batch:

When invoking Executive Privilege, just 30% believe the White House is truly interested in trying to protect the confidential nature of advice given the President. Forty-five percent (45%) believe the Bush Administration is trying to prevent Congress from learning information.

And one more little blockquote, because its quite likely a hint of things to come in the 08 race:

On both questions, Republicans and Democrats line up with their team, but those not affiliated with either major party tend to side with the Democrats.
